Hello

I am proud to be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Clinical Supervisor. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz in 2008, and my Master of Social Work from University of Central Florida in 2014.

With over a decade of experience working with clients from all walks of life, I now specialize in helping adults (18+) overcome some of the most distressing and taboo forms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. â€‹

These taboo themes are actually quite common and treatable, yet so many people are deeply fearful of getting help due to the morally/socially stigmatized nature of the content:

  • Violent/Harm OCD themes - Intrusive thoughts about harming others or oneself, either through acts of violence, accidental harm, or suicide. â€‹

  • Pedophile OCD - Unwanted intrusive sexual thoughts/mental images about children or fear of being attracted to children

  • Postpartum OCD - Intrusive, unwanted thoughts about harming one's baby sexually or violently

  • Incest OCD themes - intrusive, unwanted sexual thoughts or mental images about family members

  • Bestiality and Necrophilia OCD themes - intrusive, unwanted sexual thoughts about animals or dead bodies.

  • Sexual Orientation OCD - Persistent fear that one could be a sexual orientation other than what is identified

These obsessions are paired with repetitive, ritualized behaviors that aim to reduce distress, or to try to prevent a feared outcome. One can also engage in compulsive avoidance, reassurance seeking, and even self-punishment.

After an initial evaluation, assessment, and informed consent, I will use one of these evidence-based treatments tailored to you:

  • Exposure and Response Prevention -  A type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that helps you face your fears without relying on compulsions to feel better, thus helping your brain "learn" that the feared outcome doesn't happen, and that you can handle the anxiety without doing rituals. Over time, your fear response shrinks, and the intrusive thoughts lose their power.

  • Inference-based CBT - a specialized form of metacognitive therapy for OCD that focuses on how intrusive thoughts begin in the first place through subconscious errors in reasoning in which an imagined hypothetical possibility overrides real-world evidence. I-CBT teaches you how to spot imagination-based doubts and shift thinking back to trust in the senses

I work to create a supportive, non-judgmental, inclusive and affirming container to process these taboo themes safely. If you're ready to start the challenging yet rewarding journey of therapy, I'm ready to bring my knowledge, training, and experience to guide you toward recovery. I help people every day recover from OCD they have lived with for decades, and help is possible for you too.
